How Alsiano connected the right material solution to a new product opportunity

Background & challenge
Axjo, a Swedish manufacturer of cable spools, reels, and packaging products, identified an opportunity to enter the ESD-safe storage market. Meeting growing customer demand for ESD-certified storage bins was the goal, but Axjo had an added requirement: any material solution had to include recycled raw material, in line with the company’s environmental commitments and evolving sustainability expectations in the market.
Our role
Working closely with Axjo, Alsiano and Premix assessed the technical and sustainability requirements and identified PRE-ELEC® PP19599 as the right fit. This electrically conductive polypropylene-based compound combines reliable ESD performance with recycled plastics content, meeting both the functional demands of industrial storage applications and Axjo’s sustainability targets.

Results
The collaboration enabled Axjo to successfully launch a new range of conductive ESD storage solutions incorporating recycled plastic material. The developed solution has been tested and approved according to IEC 61340-5-3:2022 and IEC 61340-2-3:2016, confirming reliable performance in demanding industrial ESD control environments.
The collaboration resulted in:
- New business opportunity opened in the ESD control storage segment
- Sustainable material solution with recycled content, supporting PPWR-related packaging requirements
