Film coating for tablets

The SEPIFILM™ Classic range is a line of ready-to-use HPMC-based systems combining a film-forming polymer, a binder, and a plasticizer. This line of aesthetic film coating agents gives tablets a nice finish and is specifically developed for nutritional oral dosage forms. The formulations are designed for aqueous coating but are also compatible with organic solvents.

SEPIFILM™ Classic are available in transparent and white references and can easily be coloured using Seppic’s SEPISPERSE™ DRY colouring agent system.

SEPIFILM™ Classic film coating system is very easy to handle with no dust generated. It is easy to disperse into water in just 35 minutes with no lumps and limited foam. In addition, it is a quick coating system with reduced spraying time – up to 20% solid content. Other benefits include enhanced film adhesion and excellent logo definition.

Get optimum protection of active ingredients sensitive to moisture with the right film coating system. SEPIFILM™ LP is a range of white and colourless ready-to-use film coating agents designed for protecting active nutritional ingredients such as botanical extracts against moisture. The range is in granular form and holds variants with different protection levels.

SEPIFILM™ LP is very easily dispersed with no dust or lumps and allows film coating in an aqueous medium. Besides protecting active ingredients sensitive to moisture, it also improves the stability of hygroscopic formulations, allows the use of higher permeability packaging materials, and helps improve the physical properties of the core.

SEPIFILM™ LP film coating agents can be coloured by combining them with SEPISPERSE™  DRY and they can also be used as a sublayer with SEPIFILM™ Naturally Colored.
The LP range complies with EU and US regulations for dietary supplements and is also suitable for pharmaceutical applications.

In response to the need for clean label supplements, SEPIFILM™ White TF is an effective natural, clean label white film-coating agent free from titanium dioxide designed for dietary supplements in tablet form. Based on ingredients well accepted and widely used in the food supplement industry, SEPIFILM™ White TF has strong opacifying properties giving a white colour to tablets without the use of titanium dioxide.

The performance of SEPIFILM™ White TF has been assessed comparing yellowish placebo tablets coated with SEPIFILM™ White TF and a HPMC-based white coating agent containing titanium dioxide. With a 5% weight gain tablets coated with SEPIFILM™ White TF look similar to the tablets coated with a titanium dioxide containing coating agent.

SEPIFILM™ White TF is easy to handle and can be used in a 12% water dispersion with standard coating parameters for a recommended weight gain from 4 to 5%. All components in the product are compliant with EP, USP and JP.

SEPIFILM™ SC film coating agent is designed specifically for sugar-coating processes, providing a high quality thin and glossy film coating. This ready-to-use film coating agent is well suited for chewing gum, tablets, and sugar-coated almonds. The sugar and HPMC based formulation guarantees a film coating which is homogeneous and reproducible.

SEPIFILM™ SC comes in a granular form which disperses easily in water without dust or lumps. This ready-to-use granular form can reduce processing time compared to traditional sugar-coating systems. The coating agent can be perfectly used with traditional film coating equipment

SEPIFILM™ SC provides a thin white film coating with glossy appearance and a slightly sweet taste. For pharmaceutical and nutritional/food applications.
