Colourants – systems for film coating

The SEPIFILM™ Naturally Colored coating system is designed specifically for food supplements meeting the demand for naturalness in nutrition. The coating system is made with natural colours only (no colour additives) and therefore free from aluminium, TiO2 and artificial dyes.

SEPIFILM™ Naturally Colored are coloured with colouring foodstuffs providing bright natural colours without compromising on coating performance and colour stability. The foodstuffs are obtained from fruits, vegetables, edible plants, and edible algae. Five bright colours are available which can be mixed in unlimited combinations for numerous shades.

The colouring tablet coating agents are based on HPMC and formulated with well accepted ingredients providing good film adhesion and clear logo definition. They are ready-to-use, easy to handle, and can be applied on uncoated cores or on tablets previously coated with a protective film (for tablets containing moisture sensitive actives). SEPIFILM™ Naturally Colored offers high colour stability after exposure to light (natural and artificial) and superior stability compared to aluminium lakes.

SEPISPERSE™ DRY is a colouring system for the SEPIFILM™ film-coating ranges, providing a solution for quick and easy colouring of gastro-soluble coating agents. The system combines easily with the SEPIFILM™ and SEPIFILM™ LP ranges and all other HPMC-based film-coating solutions, giving a homogeneous and optimal colouration of the film coating.

The SEPISPERSE™ DRY can be used to obtain perfectly uniform and reproducible colours and offers a wide colour palette. It is used in aqueous phase and is concentrated in pigments to bring intense colours to tablets. The colouring system, which can be used for dietary supplements and confectionery, is very easy to use. The product is simply added to the film coating solution during the dispersion of the film-forming polymer. It has excellent flowing properties, and no dust is generated during preparation.
