Alsiano supplies a range of binding excipients sourced from leading manufacturers. Our range of binding ingredients ensure the agglomeration and cohesion of the granules to each other, promoting appropriate compactibility and free-flowing properties. Below is an extract of our range of binders. Feel free to contact us for more information about specific products and for special requests.
Calcium phosphate is widely used in solid oral dosage forms as a binder, and as a filler, mainly due to its excellent flowability and compressibility characteristics. In addition, a relatively low cost and its elemental calcium value make calcium phosphate a popular excipient.
Both types of calcium phosphate are BP/EP/USP/FCC.
Calcium phosphate is used as excipient in direct compression, wet granulation and tableting. It is also used in calcium mineral supplements and for pharmaceutical acids in calcium phosphate preparation.
We supply a full range of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) grades for tablets, capsules, pellets and spheres. MCC is a partially depolymerised pure cellulose and an insoluble, odourless and tasteless powder with a high degree of whiteness.
MCC is a widely used excipient thanks to its outstanding dry binding properties, enabling manufacture of tablets by direct compression. It has superior compressibility, high dilution potential, optimal particle size distribution, low friction coefficient/friability, good flowability and fast disintegration. Also, importantly, MCC enhances the adsorption and absorption of drugs for solid dosage formulations. Microcrystalline cellulose is also good for wet granulation.
As a compression or compaction aid, microcrystalline cellulose promotes:
All our MCC grades comply with the latest edition of USP/NF, Ph.Eur., JP and IP.
Further to standard MCC grades, we offer a broad line of high performance MCC which facilitates formulations and contributes to production efficiency. The line includes highly compactible MCC and porous MCC.
CEOLUS™ KG highly compactible MCC with fibrous particles enables poorly compactible and/or high dose formulations while solving tableting issues such as insufficient hardness, sticking or capping.
CEOLUS™ UF porous MCC provides a balance of compactability and flowability, enabling a balance of tablet hardness and tablet disintegration and solving tableting issues such as insufficient API content uniformity or over-lubrication.
Isomalt DC, naturally sourced sugar replacer made from pure beet sugar, is a great filler-binder for all kinds of tablets: chewable tablets, effervescent tablets, swallowable tablets, and buccal application.
Isomalt is a mixture of hydrogenated saccharides. Isomalt DC is a white or almost white agglomerate. It is great for use in direct compression ensuring hard tablets with low compression forces, and good dissolution and disintegration profile. Very low hygroscopicity, and superior shelf-life and engravings stability are other advantages.
Isomalt has a pleasant sugar-like, natural taste profile. It has no cooling effect, it is sugar-free, tooth-friendly, and suitable for diabetics. In addition, it is an excellent carrier for flavours.
The Isomalt DC is agglomerated and suitable for direct compression and offers excellent flowability, precise feeding, no dusting and very good compressibility.
Isomalt DC is excellent for compressed tablets.
SEPISTAB™ST 200 for dry oral forms is a highly versatile excipient. It is a mixture of native starch and pregelatinized corn starch featuring both binding and disintegrating properties as well as excellent flow. The white and colourless granules are excellent for direct compression and filling capsules.
In relation to process, SEPISTAB ST 200 improves the flow of powders, which is a key point for direct compression. In addition, it can be used as adsorption medium due to its porosity and it also has an anti- capping action.
Regarding formulation, SEPITAB ST 200 improves the stability of active ingredients sensitive to moisture due to its very low Aw (water activity) value and role as a moisture scavenger. The starch mixture can also be used to obtain tablets with greater hardness without compromising their rapid disintegration in the
SEPISTAB™ST 200 is suitable for pharmaceutical applications and for dietary supplements.
