Ceramides are very important components of the outermost layer of epidermis. Accounting for 50% of the lipids, they are responsible for keeping water inside the skin. During aging, the epidermis gets thinner and weakens and we start losing ceramides resulting in dry, itchy skin and wrinkles. The hair is also affected where the reduction of ceramides impact on the maintenance and renewal of healthy hair due to their key role as a barrier protecting the hair cuticle.
CERAMOSIDES™ has been developed to provide an efficient source of oral phytoceramides for skin hydration and anti-ageing. However, recent research reveals that phytoceramides also has a reducing effect on hair shedding and a simulating effect on hair reappearance and growth.
The phytoceramides from wheat germ are almost similar in structure to the ceramides found in the skin. Research has shown that when phytoceramides are digested, they are absorbed, and delivered to the epidermis, where they participate in the synthesis of new ceramides. This patented and highly concentrated source of phytoceramides from wheat contains digalactosyl diglycerides (DGDG) for boosted effect improving ceramides metabolism and absorption). Ingested skin ceramides are transported via the bloodstream to the inner layer of the skin, providing full body coverage in just 24 hours.
CERAMOSIDES™ action has been clinically proven in two state-of-the-art randomised double-blind placebo controlled clinical trials. The studies showed significant results: strong moisturising effect, and anti-aging effects, less skin wrinkledness and increased skin elasticity. The improved skin hydration was obtained after just 15 days. After 2 months supplementation, a 21% increase of skin moisturization, 18% less wrinkles and a 26% increase in skin elasticity was achieved.
Moreover, a clinical study was carried out on a panel of women of all ages suffering from non-pathological hair loss. After only three months the study demonstrated among other things, a significant growth by 12.5% in hair length vs placebo, a twofold increase in the number of hairs in the growth phase, and a significant reduction by 27% in hair loss vs placebo.
