Glidants play an important role in tablet production, improving the flow of powders into the tabletting machines for compaction. For production of solid dosage forms, we supply excipients with glidant functionality.
Calcium phosphate is a multifunctional ingredient. Besides acting as a binder and filler, calcium phosphate works very well as a glidant helping to maintain uniformity of powder mixture of API and/or excipients and indirectly prevent weight variation.
Calcium phosphate can help correcting surface irregularity, this way reducing interparticular friction and decreasing surface charge.
Isomalt is another multifunctional excipient which brings glidant properties to formulations, enhancing flowability of powders. Besides optimising the flow properties of tablet granulation or powder materials by decreasing interparticle friction and cohesion, isomalt is a highly functional filler and binder, and a sweetener with a taste profile almost equal to sugar.
