Cognitive performance is an important part of healthy aging, and memory is a key parameter for maintaining independence, clarity and quality of life. According to supplier information, a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study has been performed to evaluate the effect of SEPIBRIGHT™ on cognitive function.
A test panel of 98 healthy senior men and women aged 60–80 years with cognitive difficulties participated in the study. Over a period of 12 weeks, participants took either 300 mg of SEPIBRIGHT™ or placebo on a daily basis. Cognitive parameters were evaluated during the study, including visual long-term memory and verbal long-term memory.
According to the study results, SEPIBRIGHT™ was associated with positive outcomes in visual memory after 6 weeks, including fewer errors versus placebo. The study used a Paired Associates Learning (PAL) task, a cognitive test designed to assess visual memory and new learning. Reported results included an 18% reduction in PAL total errors after 6 weeks and a 23% reduction after 12 weeks versus baseline, alongside improvements in PAL memory score of 11% and 17%, respectively. These findings indicate improved learning of new visual information in the study setting.
After 12 weeks, the study results indicate that SEPIBRIGHT™ was associated with improved verbal long-term memory, including a 25% increase versus baseline in the number of recalled words among participants aged 60–69 years. The study also reported an improvement in word recognition accuracy versus placebo. In addition, SEPIBRIGHT™ was associated with an 11% reduction in perceived-stress scores after 6 weeks versus baseline.
